The first European to reach Montreal was Jacques Cartier in 1535 in search of a passage to Asia during the Age of Exploration but it only actually became colonized in 1642 when a mission called Ville Marie was built in the location as part of a project to create a French colonial empire.

Montreal was incorporated as a city only in 1832 and it became the capital of the United Province of Canada from 1844 to 1849. breath taking attraction; it holds the replicas of ecosystems found
in the Americas and it’s operated by the Montreal Nature Museum.
