Quebec City was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain. Some other towns were founded
before, most famously Tadoussac in 1604 which still exists today, but Quebec was the first to
be meant as a permanent settlement and not a simple trading post. Over time, it became the
capital of French Canada and all of New France.

Modern Quebec was part of the territory of New France, the general name for the North American possessions of France until 1763. At its largest extent, before the Treaty of Utrecht, this territory included several colonies, each with its own administration: Canada, Acadia, Hudson Bay, and Louisiana.
The borders of these colonies were not precisely defined, and were open on the western side. Feeling the ambiance in Quebec is one of the best feelings for a traveler. The culture, language, attractions and the food complete this experience as an artist complete the painting.

As one drives downtown of the city, the entrance and the walls of “Old Quebec” will take you to something a lot like a world within itself. It’s like one went to the past and although technology and the typical things of modern time are still there, you feel like there is a magical feeling in the air. The Old Quebec is a UNESCO world heritage and very rich in history and arts. The Old Quebec is the core of a beautiful town located in the heart of downtown Quebec city. This is the only place where you will be able to talk English with someone else in the restaurants or shopping malls; everywhere else outside the town's walls, French is the language spoken. Shopping in is a pleasure, in particular at rue Saint-Jean and rue Saint-Louis, where you will find the charm and feel of Europe.
There is a lot of movement around the city and lots of tourists enjoying the beauty of
the city’s landscape; at night people go out to eat in its fine dining restaurants and have
fun as well as to watch the several activities going on around in front of the Chateu Hotel,
one of the main attractions of the Old Quebec.
The currency used is the Canadian dollar and/or US dollar mostly but they would also accept Euro in certain locations. There lots of ATM machines though, where you can withdrawn money in Canadian dollars. If this is the first time you are traveling abroad, make sure in the back of your bank card it shows the trademarks of “PLUS” and/or “Cirrus”.
These will allow you to withdrawn money directly from your bank account on the country of your origin, also make sure that your bank offers this service before you leave, in some countries, even though they use the PLUS and/or Cirrus sign in the card, the service is not functional unless you talk to the bank first and let them know you may be using this type of service.
If you want to feel right on the heart of Europe, go to Quebec and experience the culture, the fun and the beauty of a city that will make you feel like you have just landed somewhere else other than America.
